Daisy & Dandelion was started by Candice Edye in January 2007 around the time she started her marketing business, The Marketing Coach. Her 15 plus years experience in PR and marketing in the public and private sector did not prepare her for the realities of working from home around her family.

Starting a business, especially when you have young kids, can be an extraordinary juggle between many competing demands. Running a business from home can also be somewhat isolating. So, being in marketing she wrote a media release asking other business mums interested in starting a playgroup to contact her. The media ran with the story and the response was amazing. The first playgroup meeting had fifteen business mums with an army of children and even one dad.

The playgroup has come a long way since then. It held an open day in May 2007 and added a few more members to the group. Then in the October of 2007 it ran a very ambitious project - the Business Mums Expo. It was held at the indoor playcentre, KidCity. The Expo proved to be so successful that there was a waiting list of exhibitors for the following year.  It also highlighted for her what business mums could achieve if they tackled projects together.

Daisy & Dandelion is now a hobby gone mad with just under 200 members it takes the concept of the original playgroup a step further. It also provides educational experiences through workshops and guest speakers, as well as co-operative marketing projects. Daisy & Dandelion also recognises that very often women entrepreneurs also juggle part-time work or full-time work as well as starting a business. There are many common issues faced by working women no matter what format their work takes. Therefore Daisy & Dandelion is open to any woman whether she works part-time, full-time, in her own business or still planning to start a business.
